Beautifully set amongst the Swabian Mountains on the fringes of the Black Forest, Stuttgart is the home of two of Germany's best-known car manufacturers - Porsche and Mercedes Benz. The most popular attractions in the city are somewhat predictably the museums displaying the various models of both marques, although there are also many more conventional attractions too.
The Baden-Württemberg metropolis has many great sights for visitors to enjoy - there are no less than four impressive castles, and of course the skyline dominating television tower - the first building of is kind, and a great place to get a view of the city from above.
Stuttgart has a reputation for friendliness like many German cities, and its winding streets are filled with small bars and coffee shops where you can linger over a drink or two and chat to the locals. Shopping is first class in Stuttgart, and there is a wide range of shops: ranging from exclusive boutiques right through to discount warehouses that entice visitors with a range of desirable products.
It is a straightforward matter to navigate Stuttgart and see most of the top attractions on foot, although car hire is essential in order to explore the beautiful Black Forest to the south of the city.
